Celebrating it with loved ones, making great memories and enjoying our time together. So yes, I absolutely LOVE Easter!
THE MOST FERTILE SEASON
As the winter has officially turned into spring (spring equinox, March 20), we celebrate the fact that lightness has taken over from dark. But we also celebrate just how fertile earth really is during this season. It’s THE season to plant seeds. This can be seeds for your actual garden, or seeds for your inner garden aka your mind.
This really is the perfect time to start new projects, give birth to new ideas and then to see it coming into bloom.
BUT WHERE DOES EASTER STEM FROM?
Have you ever wondered our Easter traditions actually stem from? I mean, sure we all know the Biblical part behind it with the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Celebrating his resurrection or “new beginning” with loved ones over a delicious meal, or perhaps even multiple meals together.
And then there’s the odd Easter bunny and searching for eggs…
That doesn’t seem to make any sense, when you look at it purely from a Christian view. Right???
EASTER, EOSTRE, EOSTARE,OSTARA
Here’s the catch. Easter is basically the festival of Ostara. And what is Ostara? It’s a pagan holiday that is still celebrated on March 20, which is now called Spring Equinox, also known as the beginning of the Spring season.
The native pre-Christian Germanic tribes of northern Europe worshipped a goddess called Ostara. And during a 2-day fest called Ostertage, they honoured this very special goddess. She was the goddess of dawn, spring and fertility; representing new beginnings. Or better said, she actually represents LIGHT, in all possible ways. The sun rising in the east, a bright new morning, a new beginning! It is said that the goddess Ostara is responsible for bringing back spring after each winter.
One tradition that celebrated the fertility of this season, was the use of eggs. Eggs would be dyed and intentions (hopes and wishes for the coming year) would be set. After that, the eggs would be buried alongside a seedling in the ground, to sustain and feed the plant through its growing season. And as the plant grew, the hope or wish would also take root and come to fruition at the end of the year.
A gorgeous tradition of which various parts are still used to this day. Setting intentions, oh yes, got to love that! And using egg shells to fertilize your plants, which is perfect for growing your own vegetables.
BUTAS A POPULAR OSTARA MYTH GOES…
One time however, Ostara was too late…
As she was hurrying across the land, she stumbled upon a little bird that was dying from the winter cold. She couldn’t just leave it behind! Oh no, dear Ostara couldn’t do that. So she helped the dying bird, who no longer had any sensation left in its wings. Ostara then turned the bird into a hare and named it Lepus (which also means rabbit in Latin). To make sure the animal would be fully honoured as originally being a bird, Ostara gave the hare the ability to lay eggs. But only on one day of the year and the agreement was that the hare wasn’t allowed to keep the eggs; it had to give away the eggs during the Ostara fest.
So… Whether you celebrate Ostara (Spring Equinox) on March 20 or Easter at the beginning of April, know that there are more similarities than you may think.
Tomorrow, March 28th, we will experience the very first full moon of the new astrological cycle. This full moon in Libra, which also happens to be a supermoon, empowers us to understand our individual needs in relation to the desires of others. It’s all about balance!
INTENSITY OF A SUPERMOON
A supermoon happens when the full moon coincides with the moon’s closest approach to Earth in its orbit. That’s why a supermoon can make it appear so, that the moon is brighter and closer to earth than normal.
Because a super moon is closer to earth than other moons, it also has more energetic pull via magnetism and gravity. The gravitational pull is at its utmost pinnacle, and this actually causes a much higher than usual tide movement.
A “regular” full moon can already be quite intense, making you more sensitive and emotional. A super moon is energetically known to be even more powerful, intense and strongly felt.
ILLUMINATE THE WAY
Both a full moon and supermoon, have the ability to truly illuminate things for you. With your heightened senses and being extra emotional, look for what it is that you are feeling. Look for the reason behind why you are feeling what you’re feeling. That’s where some answers to life’s questions can be found. That’s precisely what this full moon energy is making you see.
Things and situations that you no longer serve you, are being illuminated! So thank you, full moon!
A staple in our house (and cars too) is hand sanitizer. Not just now in times of the Coronavirus, but just any other regular day. Especially with little kids who love playing outside, but also put their dirty fingers in their mouth or start sucking their thumb as soon as they sit down in the car.
With all hand sanitising gel being sold out everywhere, it can be a real struggle to find some yourself. But did you know that you can also easily make hand sanitizer at home? It’s quite easy to make, once you know what you need for it.
But first…Your main priority should be to frequently wash your hands with disinfectant soap and water. I know, sounds like basic hygiene but there’s a big difference in quickly washing your hands and properly washing and cleansing your hands.
How to wash your hands properly
Here’s a quick lesson in how to wash your hands the right way, according to the CDC. There’s 2 things you need for it, which is running warm water and soap. Don’t have warm water? Just use cold water, since that’s always better than not washing your hands at all. The surfactants in soap lift soil and microbes from your skin, and somehow you tend to scrub your hands more thoroughly when using soap, which further removes germs. And with the use of running water, you’ll be able to rinse off the germs, dirt and soap. Plain and simple, right?!
5 easy steps for washing your hands:
Wet your hands with running water, turn off the tap, and apply soap.
Rub your hands together with the soap, making sure the soap covers your entire hands.
Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. You could even hum the “Happy Birthday” song from beginning to end twice, as a reminder for the time.
Rinse your hands under clean, running water.
Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them. All done!
But What If There’s No Water? Or Soap? Or Both?
When you’re out shopping, going on an adventure, travelling or doing other things in public. it’s always good to have something on hand that you can use without water and soap. Those moments, it’s just easier to have other options, such as a disinfectant hand gel. That way you won’t have to wait until you get home, to fight off germs on your hands. Especially during the cold and flu season, or with the spread of more serious viruses such as Covid-19. And with the massive run on hand sanitiser, it’s handy to know how to make your own.
Store-bought, scientifically-formulated hand sanitizers are a solid next option when you can’t wash your hands with soap and water. But if you – like so many people right now – have issues finding hand sanitizer at the store, you can make your own. It’s super easy, but it’s always extremely important to keep perfect measurements in mind. In store-bought hand gels all of the chemicals are obviously perfectly proportioned already. So when you decide to make hand sanitizing gel at home, keep a close eye on the proportions. But don’t forget that store-bought ones also contain other ingredients that might not be considered healthy, so making it yourself is always a good idea anyway.
A recipe from the WHO shows us just how easy it is to make a hand sanitzer at home (they call it handrub). They add hydrogen-peroxide to the mixture, but for a standard hand sanitzer you don’t need to do this. The WHO does so to make sure that the handrub helps you get rid of viruses and bacteria, and because the spores of bacteria are resistant to alcohol (but not to hydrogen-peroxide). For the use of a hand gel to fight off coronavirus, you don’t need the hydrogen-peroxide. This is also hardly ever the case with store-bought hand gel and sanitizers.
What You Need to Make Disinfectant Handrub
To make a handrub that’s also disinfectant, it’s important for you to add alcohol to it. Get yourself a bottle of isopropyl, 99% rubbing alcohol or ethanol (grain alcohol) for this, since others can be toxic. You can also use 70% alcohol but you must change the proportions of the recipe. This is the active ingredient in any hand sanitizer recipe, and it needs to comprise at least 60% of the product in order to be an effective disinfectant.
120 ml Bottle of isopropyl or 99% rubbing alcohol
1,5 ml glycerine
8-10 drops Essential oil (for example Tea Tree, which helps kill certain bacteria, viruses and fungi)
The Process Of Making Hand Sanitizer
Start by sanitizing all of your tools (glass bottles/squeeze tubes, liquid measuring cup, and a spatula) in hot water or a dishwasher. There’s no point in making something that’s meant for sanitizing in an unsanitary way!
Add the glycerine to the bottle of alcohol and shake it.
Add essential oil to it (optional) and shake some more.
That’s it! You can use it directly from this bottle or pour it into a bottle with spray cap on it.
Note that this is a thin and quite runny sanitizer, perfect for using as a spray that dries up just as any other hand sanitizing gel. If you prefer a thicker substance, you can add 5 gram Xantham gom to it. If the gel is still not thick enough for your liking, carefully add some more xanthan gom until you get it to the correct thickness.
Good to know
Hand sanitizer, especially alcohol-based can be drying on your hands, so make sure to moisturize! However, the added glycerine in this formula helps with preventing your hands from becoming too dry.
With creating your own hand sanitizer it is extremely important that you work precisely with the measurements. The alohol in it, is there for a very specific reason (to kill bacteria and viruses). Too little alcohol in your mixture will result in a handrub that’s just that, a handrub without the desinfeting properties. On the other hand, a too high amount of alcohol can cause skin irritation. This article is written after I made a few bottles of hand sanitizing gel for use in our home, since there’s a huge shortage of handrubs in the stores. Obviously, washing your hands is the preferred method of cleaning your hands. But when there’s no running water and no more store-bought hand gel, I’d say that making your own is a pretty damn good option. Better this than nothing at all!
I’ve made a few bottles of handrub with both 99% alcohol and 70% alcohol (see photo). Both are good. However, I did adjust the “recipe” of the one with 70% alcohol in it, since the amount of alcohol vs glycerine needs to be correct for it to be a disinfectant. So those stories going around telling you that Vodka can be used to make hand sanitizer? No no! Don’t do that! There’s only 40% alcohol in wodka, so that’s not enough.
Can you feel it? This mass fear that’s in the collective right now? And it’s spreading like wildfire. For anyone who’s just the slightest bit sensitive to energies, going outside can feel different these days. You might get this intense feeling of overwhelm or anxiety. Perhaps a sense of sadness too.
Yesterday I went to several stores to buy paracetamol, for my broken toe that still hurts. It was 6PM, so shops were closing already. But people were frantically buying literally everything they could get their hands on in 1 store I went to. As if they are preparing for some sort of war. Panic buying. Soap, hand sanitiser, alcoholic wipes, medicine. My god, the fight over paracetamol is insane. While I was standing in line to pay for my Advil (which was not sold out, thankfully), people were talking about their own hoarding of goods. Lots of anxious talk about what’s to come.
Then today we went to do grocery shopping, just as we always do on Friday morning. Driving up to the parking lot, I realised that it was going to be madness in the store.And I was right. Absolute madness! Normally on Friday morning (before 10AM) it’s actually pretty relaxed in the supermarkets. Not too many people, just the regulars like myself. For doing groceries, I find that a pretty enjoyable moment. Today however, my brain went into some sort of panic attack. Complete mental override. Couldn’t think straight anymore, couldn’t figure out what I needed to get and forgot some essentials for 1 dish I was about to make. Why? Because there was so many people in there, all piling up goods in their carts as if WWIII had started and this was the absolute last chance to ever buy food. Man, it was insane! People buying piles of pasta, rice, toilet paper (yup, in the Netherlands this now seems to be a cure for the Coronavirus too). There was even people stocking up their carts with bottled water. Now let me tell you this: Tap water in the Netherlands is amongst the cleanest and best you can find in the entire world. Everyone drinks water from the tap here. Everyone. Now, unless this virus has suddenly moved over onto our water system, there’s no need to stock up on bottled water. Anyhow, I will try to steer clear from supermarkets as best as I can. All because the energy in there is not okay! It’s dense, heavy, dark. I could feel the fear of others. This intense stress and anxiety, almost as if we’re at the start of an apocalypse.
How about you? How do YOU feel when going outside, these days? Keep a close eye on how it’s making you feel and make your choices based on that. What do you want to feel? What do you want to surround yourself with? What is best for you?
There’s a couple of things to keep in mind right now:
Don’t panic There’s no use in panicking! It doesn’t make the situation better and it sure as hell doesn’t help you. Don’t give in to the mass panic or fear, just choose to be a beacon of light and positivity. Do some energy work on yourself by transmuting heavy energies. Connect with your Higher Self for guidance. Do a Pillar of Light meditation. Or simply just smile and feel how it changes your mood instantly. Fear lowers your own energetic frequency (your vibration). It lowers your immune system and makes you more susceptible for any kind of virus.
Clear your mind. With your mind being fogged up by what the media tells you or with the actions of others, your mind can easily become stuffed up with things that aren’t right for you. A clear mind makes you able to process things better, to see the truth of what’s going on, and to help you make better choices.
Take action. Do whatever is good for you and your family. Keep yourself safe and healthy, make sure you have food at home. But don’t buy into the panic and and don’t go out there for some panic buying. There’s more than enough food for everyone, if we all behave like normal human beings. Aside from that, be mindful of your basic hygiene practice. It’s just odd to see how people are suddenly freaking out about washing their hands or using hand sanitiser, while this should actually be a normal practice every day. Not just with this virus outbreak.
But what about this COVID-19 virus then?
I’ve been drawn to this in a very weird and specific way, for quite some time now. There’s something about it, that makes me interested in keeping a close eye on the entire world and the development of the coronavirus. That’s also the reason why I have been following various “not approved” and in a very specific country “illegal” media outlets. Is this virus a big cover-up? Is this virus even real? Is this virus man-made? And has it even been purposefully unleashed, for whatever reason (and I’ve come across plenty of those stories, TBH)? I don’t know. I really don’t know the truth behind it and will never say it’s either this or that, since there’s too much unknown at this moment.
What I do know, is that it affects the lungs. For healthy people this might not be extremely bad and you’ll recover quickly, but for the less healthy people with a weaker immune system this virus isn’t good news. And there’s a lot of people with a weaker immune system.
So now you might start wondering….
How to Boost Your Immune System during the coronavirus?
Taking care of your immune system should be the first thing to look at. I’ve put more thought into this for my family, since the first mentions of this virus when it was still only in Wuhan China. Your immune system is the one thing that aids with preventing viruses to stay alive in your body. A healthy immune system fights those bacteria and viruses out of your body. A weaker immune system on the other hand, is not always that capable of doing so correctly. While the following suggestions are not ways to PREVENT you from contracting the virus, they are easy ways to keep yourself as HEALTHY as possible.
As I always mention during my live streams on Twitch, my guided meditations and my work with clients, sleep is extremely important. And it’s underrated too. Sleep allows for your body to regenerate its cells. Without sufficient sleep, your body is unable to heal the physical cells of your body, as well as it’s unable to process emotions and energies within you. Without sufficient sleep, your body makes fewer cytokines – a type of protein that targets infection and inflammation – effectively creating an immune response. Lack of sleep (or even sleep deprivation) has huge effects on your physical and mental self. It not only causes for your immune system to be lowered, but also causes for you to not be able to make clear decisions. It causes hormonal imbalance and gives a boost to stress hormones (cortisol). It affects your memory, normal brain functioning and metabolism. You make less healthy food and exercise choices, which then tends to make you feel bad about those snacks you just had or skipping a workout.
Having difficulties falling asleep? Why not try a
quick and easy breathing exercise? Make sure your pre-sleep ritual is one where
you disconnect from distractions like TV, gaming, or sports. Those actually
keep you awake, because it keeps your brain busy. The moment these distractions
are no longer there, it’s easier for you to relax and let your brain relax too.
Lay down in bed, make sure your warm enough (but not too warm), close your eyes
and focus on your breath. Breathing in for 4 counts, hold it for 4, and then
breathe out for 4 counts. Focus on the breathing, focus on the counting. The
moment thoughts appear in your mind, simply guide yourself back to breathing
and counting. Allow for your body to start feeling heavy. Feel the sensations
of your body relaxing, while you focus on breathing deeply and consciously.
You’ll soon notice a deep sense of relaxation coming over you, and soon after
you’ll fall asleep.
It might sound as the most insane thing, by adding “breathing” to the list of things you can do to boost your immune system. But in fact, it’s not. We all breathe, otherwise we wouldn’t be alive. But have you ever been taught how to properly breathe? And that there’s various ways of breathing? And that each breathing technique has a different result? You can breathe quickly and induce a trance state (breath of fire, kundalini yoga), you can breathe slowly and consciously to induce relaxation. There’s breathing with the upper part of your body, and there’s breathing with the lower part of your body. Being in a stressed state of mind makes you breathe from the upper parts, which is an extremely shallow way of breathing. This can then go on to cause tension in your chest and neck area.
Now have a look at your own breathing. Is it shallow or deep? In case it does NOT come from your belly (meaning that your belly does NOT move inwards and outwards when you breathe), your breathe is shallow. The proper way to breathe, is to make sure the belly moves inwards on each outbreath as you empty your lungs. And on the inbreath, your belly should expand as your lungs fill up with fresh air. So just take a moment to focus on your breath. Take a good deep breath in now and relax. Feel your body relax, as you change the way you breathe.
Now, unfortunately this virus goes straight to your lung area. In my case with asthma, it happens to be lungs that are already trying extra hard to provide me with oxygen. A few months ago – before all this happened – I purchased a bottle of pills based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (hilarious, right?!). Meditation or mindfulness
As mentioned before, stress (or fear or panic) causes for a hormonal disbalance as it release more cortisol. Too much cortisol causes an inflammatory response within the body and leaves you more vulnerable to infections and disease. Release your stress by practising mindfulness, an ancient of getting yourself out of your head and into the present moment. Do some slow-moving yoga, with which you also focus on being present in the here and now, as well as properly breathing. I personally love Yoga with Adriene on Youtube! And don’t forget about meditation while you’re at it. A perfect way for you to focus on breathing slowly and deeply, while relaxing body and mind. Multiple times a week, I host live meditation sessions (with ASMR and oftentimes reiki healing too). You can find the recorded ones on my Youtube channel, or simply listen to a track I made with relaxing ocean sounds.
How aware are you of how (un)healthy your diet really is? Is your diet adding to your health or making you sick? Simple question, right?! Food (and drinks) are directly related to your gut health and therefore your immune system. Whenever you’re looking at giving your immune systems a boost, look a improving the amount of good bacteria in your gut. These help your body kill the bad bacteria, leaving you with more energy and better overall health.
Simply start by adding in more whole, unprocessed foods to your diet. Just eat your damn veggies and fruit! Skip the pre-made sauces or marinades, and just make it from scratch. It also tastes a lot better, to be honest. Take a step further by eating less refined sugars. Mind you, refined sugars can be found in many of our normal foods so it does require you to start looking at your food differently. Repopulate the good bacteria in your gut, by taking pro-biotics in pill form or by eating more fermented foods such as sauerkraut and kimchi. Or drink fermented drinks such as kombucha or kefir milk. I always make our own kefir milk or fermented milk, based on freeze dried kefir cultures. A delicious and healthy drink, that’s also called “the champagne of milk”, thanks to the amazing tingly bubbles that are present in kefir milk.
In addition to all of that, you might want to add some vitamins to your diet to give your immune system an even bigger boost. With all my reading and research from media and interviews with those in China, 1 thing keeps coming back: vitamin C! With a regular diet, our vitamin C intake is not enough to give your immune system a decent boost. To help your body fight off viruses and bacteria, you actually need a really high dosage of vitamin C. Normal store bought pills have a low mg of vitamins in it (for kids it’s often 70mg), but with lots of sugar in it. Look for the ones with a higher dosage in it, such as 500mg or even 1000mg. An adult male of around 70kg should have a daily dosage of 2000-4000mg of vitamin C. In normal situations! A child could be given a daily dosage of 1000-2000mg. That’s a whole different number than the ‘vitamins’ that you can buy in the supermarket, right?! In case you feel sick (covid-19, a regular cold or flu), you could scale this up by taking 1000mg every hour. Keep on doing so until your intestines start acting up (perhaps even a bit of diarrhoea). Then it’s time to stop the intake of vitamin C for that day, since you’ve hit the max your body can take. The next day, you start this process all over again, and again, until you start feeling better. The better you feel, the less you can now take and slowly go back to a normal intake of 2000-4000mg per day. Oh, and simply eating more oranges each day will not be sufficient since there’s only 50 to 100mg of vitamin C per orange…
Last but not least; your mind is an incredibly powerful tool that can either HELP you in this process or DESTRUCT you. As said before, panic or fear lowers your frequency, increases your stress levels, increases cortisol levels and lowers your immune system. A positive mindset on the other hand, could help you in steering clear from all of this. I know, there’s so much panic going on right now that it feels as if we are literally and constantly surrounded by it. But don’t forget that YOU are in charge of what happens in your own mind. You are responsible for your own physical and mental health. You are in control here.
So despite all the heavy and dense energies right now, choose to focus on the good ones too. There’s a lot of good stuff happening too. There’s people helping older people do groceries, others help those who work in hospitals by taking care of their kids, others are spreading positive messages online. There’s so much good and positive to be seen! Why not try to incorporate a “gratitude-moment”, each and every day? A peaceful moment where you (alone or perhaps together with others) come up with 10 things that you are really thankful for today? Or simply take a look outside and try to spot a gorgeous piece of nature? Flowers starting to bloom, birds chirping, the sunshine or a gorgeous but hefty hailstorm?
And as the quarantine or lockdown in each country tightens, we are forced to move inwards. Staying in our own homes, in our own safe bubble. Some see this as taking away freedom, whilst I’d prefer to see it as keeping me and my family safe. But this lockdown is also a gorgeous time to look within yourself. Take your time to journal on what’s going on in your mind. Allow for the shadow parts to surface and work your way through it. You’ve got the time for it now, so why not make use of it? Experiencing certain fears? Perhaps fear of dying, or fear of becoming sick? Ask yourself the tough questions. Ask yourself why you have these fears. Dig deeper and deeper, until you find out exactly why you’re feeling a certain way. Your answers might surprise you, and they sure as hell will shift a lot within you.
And don’t forget:
Keep on smiling! A smile is extremely powerful. Smiling not only makes you feel good, thanks to the release of feel-good hormones when smiling. But it also has a great effect on those who see you smiling. A smile is contagious. When you smile, others will smile back at you. Try it yourself and see how amazing this is. You can always choose to smile, even when you really don’t feel like it. Just do it anyway and feel the change within you. And the bigger your smile, the more you’ll notice others responding to it. It’s like giving away free medicine, because now your smile has made someone else smile and therefore feel good too. So much goodness in a smile!
WHAT DO YOU TELL YOURSELF?
About life, about yourself, about the things you want to have or do, about the choices you take….
The way you talk to yourself is mostly based on one thing:
Your inner child.
How does the little boy or girl inside of you feel? Does your inner child feel good enough, worthy enough, smart enough, beautiful enough to do/have/be whatever you want to? Or is there some kind of inner struggle going on? Your present day YOU who wants something, but your INNER CHILD believing he/she’s not good enough?
Can you see HOW these inner conflicts can become actual real life struggles in present day? All the choices you make, are based on how your inner child perceives the world.
If you – as a kid – were told that making money is hard, then that’s most likely what you still believe in this current day.
If you – as a child – were always shown that you aren’t worthy of love and attention, then that’s most likely what you still believe today.
But also… if you were always told and shown – by your parents or caretakers – that you can do anything you want in life, then guess what??? You will have brought that way of looking at yourself into your current reality. Knowing and trusting that you can indeed do anything you want.
Of course this goes even deeper, when you look at generations that have come before you. You’ve taken on their belief systems too, THINKING that those beliefs are real.
Looking at my own family line – the Indonesian part – there’s a lot struggles for the women. And this goes back for many generations even. My grandmother had her idea of the world through the things she had experienced as a child. She then taught my mother all these beliefs, simply by behaving a certain way. And my mother taught me these beliefs, also by her simply being a certain way.
Now…. Should I NOT change these beliefs, I would then teach my kids the exact same things. About life, about themselves, their role in life, what they’re capable of and what they’re worthy of.
Changing your belief system requires you to take a look at your inner child. To heal parts of yourself and the way you look at yourself, from a kids point of view. The perspective of your own INNER CHILD.
It not only changes YOU and your life, but also that of generations to come after you. Not to mention the people that you inspire, in becoming a healed version of YOU.
So, bless you, my friend! You truly are amazing, beautiful, strong, smart and worthy of all that you desire.

Happiness shows itself in many different ways. And sometimes it might NOT be the way that you were looking for, but it’s just there. Unexpected and absolutely gorgeous.
As I was entering our home from bringing the kids to school and daycare, I started to feel a bit worried. You know those worries where you’re thinking about money, all the things that you want to do, things that you’re scared of doing. And then it all quickly spirales down into this negative mood. Negative energy. That kind that you most definitely don’t want to stay in for too long.
Whenever I catch myself with such thoughts, I try to grab hold of ’em as fast as I can. And actively focus on it, so that I can change it into something better. I guess it’s actually a combination of reframing my thougts into different and more positive thoughts, as well as actively doing something that feels good.
One thing that still brings me lots of joy, it’s taking care of our plants. Watering the plants, repotting the plants, seeing them grow or bloom, all of it. So that’s what I did, while constantly reminding myself of POSITIVE thoughts. And it works! It’s one of the quickest ways to feel better.
So while I was grabbing an old pot for a plant, I noticed that our son Jiro had put some of his little “treasures” in the pot. Sticks, stones, puzzle pieces, it was all there. Including this gorgeous oyster shell and a black feather. Don’t ask me where he found the oyster shell! The last time we ate oysters was in the summer while on holiday in France…. Anyhow, these pretties are just lifting my mood. Simply by looking at it, knowing how he hid these in our hallway in a pot we didn’t use up until now. But also because the oyster and feather have such a gorgeous spiritual meaning too.
The OYSTER is one of the most inspirational creatures. It’s an animal that literally turns dirt, sand and stress into a pearl. From not the most pretty things, into an actual gem. The pearl transmutes negative energy into something positive. Isn’t that amazing?
This peaceful creatures is grown in the sea where it’s submerged in turbulent water with currents and changing tides. But it just hangs on! Never letting go while remaining calm. It’s all needed for the growth. Turbulence is needed for growth. So the oyster is such a good example that problems, negative situations and even stress, can be turned into beautiful situations. I’d say that this is pretty cool!
Now, the BLACK FEATHER also has an amzing spiritual meaning. It is believed by many native cultures that birds and feathers have mystical meaning, carry magic and it’s even said to be a sacred connection to God, Source, the Divine, or however you want to call it. They say that when “Feathers appear, angels are near.” Isn’t that cool?! A feather is believed to be a cosmic way of saying hello, showing you that you are safe and protected. It’s there to comfort you and give you joy. And joy is a positive emotion thus higher vibration. The one that you will want to be in as much as you can.
Now as for this black feather that I found, it’s spiritual meaning is to stay strong no matter what’s happening. You’re protected by the angels and the Divine, so whatever is happening happens for the greater good of you. Trust your intuition and let it guide you. You are safe! That sounds amazing right?!
Being happy or finding happiness is something so many people want in life. But we often forget that it’s actually all little things combined that give you a sense of happiness. And you do need to be willing to see the smaller things, open yoursrlf up to seeing the good, allow yourself to receive amazing signs that lift your mood.
The search for happiness CAN be an endless search, with you never actually finding it if you don’t know how it realy works. I find that quite sad. Knowing how many people are in search of happiness, but not knowing what it really means.
The key here is to change your perspective on it. What IS happiness really? What makes you feel happy? Is it really all about material things such as cars, holidays, designer clothes and shoes? Or can happiness also be found in smaller things that you enjoy seeing or doing?
I believe that the way to happiness is combining small things that make you happy. That way you raise your vibration to a higher level, which then allows you to SEE positive things in life. And by being in that state of mind, you’ll attract more positivity into your life. Even the bigger things you dream of.
So whatever you do, focus on how you feel. Your energy. Your vibration. THAT is the only thing that really matters!
It always makes my heart sing when someone tells me about their wake-up call and how it changed their life for the better.
Earlier this morning, when I went to a seafood shop that we’ve never been to before, the owner was happy to have me and Ronin as his first customers of the day. Wanting to chat, he almost instantly shared his life story with me. I don’t know what it is, it’s something that happens wherever I go. People just feel safe and want to share their complete life story with me. I always feel grateful when people do, it’s just heartwarming to hear their stories.
This seafood salesman / business owner told me how he always used to think that making money was the most important thing in the world. He would leave his hous at 6am to sell fish at a market, only to arive back home around 7pm. He did have a fancy car, owned a nice house, went on lots of holidays with his family. But it all revolved around making enough money for his pension, some day in the future.
Untill he had a heart attack. Follwed by another one.
Talking to this man, I could see how it had changed him. I don’t know the man, but the change was clearly visible. Nowadays, he just does what makes him happy. Yes, he owns his seafood store and works there many days a week. But he refuses to live his life like he did before. It’s all about passion now. Enjoying his life, enjoying time he spents with his family, enjoying his health.
I guess we’ve all heard plenty of such of stories. How so many people first have to have quite a rude wake-up call or a spiritual awakening to realize what’s really important in life.
We’ve seen this first hand with my dad too. Always working and trying to climb the corporate ladder even further. All so that he (and we) could enjoy the fruits of his labour.
Money. He earned a pretty damn high salary, which allowed us to have a luxurious life. He ensured that we would always be taken care of financially.
But then, after he was laid off from his job at Philips – which was his own choice and he was generously paid for – he got ill. So even though he had a really nice amount of money in his bank account, he wasn’t able to enjoy it. The doctors estimated he would only have a few months left to live.
Against all odds, he lived for 5 more years after the surgery, but he was never same again. Money didn’t matter anymore. As long as he would be able to live in his own home, spend time with us and enjoy his garden, he was HAPPY. It was all that mattered. Especially being around his family.
This isn’t a unique ‘story’ and neither is that from the business owner I spoke with. I mean, how often have you heard about people working all their life, saving money for their pension because then (only then) they will have the freedom to finally enjoy life? And by the time that their pension starts, they are terminally il, or die from a stroke or heart attack.
It amazes me how very often this happens. It seems to become quite normal even.
So WHY… Why would you wait with enjoying life until your pension starts?
And even more so… Why would we – as human beings – need such a rude wake-up call to finally realize that it’s actually the other way around???
Enjoy your life now. Enjoy your health. Enjoy the freedom that you have. Enjoy spending time with your family. NOW!
You never know how long you’ve got left, so why wait?! It makes no sense to wait with enjoying your life to the max. You only really have this moment, now. Constantly looking back at your past, doesn’t help you in enjoying this very moment. Neither does it to keep on thinking about things that may or may not happen in the future. You only really have this moment. Now.
And if that means that the Universe/God/Higher Self/Soul has to rudely wake you up, so that you’ll come to realize that this is true. Then so it must be. It’s only happening for the greater good of you, no matter how aweful/painful it might feel when you’re going through it. It really is happening FOR you, so that you’ll grow and come to see what’s important and what not.
You can only live your life once, so make the best of it!
I have seen so many people go through their own awakening, only to dismiss it and slowly but steadily go back to how life was before. Before the burnout, before the time that their body shut down, before the period of depression. All the way back to how life was, before it was turned upside down.
But the thing is, that these challenging times happened for a reason. To awaken you. To abruptly stop you with what you’re doing and make you SEE, HEAR and FEEL that life like that can’t go on. That you need a change. A drastic change.
With the HUGE awakening that has been happening worldwide over the past years, many people have been called to make a change. To release all things that no longer serve the newer version of “you”, in order for you to get closer to who you’ve always been on the inside. It’s all happening so that the newer version of you can come through.
But in order to do so, it must first shed all the layers that don’t go with it. All so that you can finally start living life more purposefully. To live according your one true purpose. I mean, you already know you’re here with a purpose. That you’re meant to do something special with your life. Not just go to a job, make money, pay bills, and only enjoy some spare time in the weekends. That’s not what your life is all about, and you know it. You’ve always felt that you were born to do more, be more, have more. Now is the time to allow this to happen and finally become this purpose-driven person that you’ve always been. That’s what your awakening is all about!
There’s an important reason as to why you’ve been through all the things that you went through. It happened to prepare yourself for the life ahead of you. For the greatness inside of you to come through. To make you strong and resilient. And for you to allow yourself to shed the darkness, so that more light can come in. And in doing so, you’ll inspire more people to do the same. They see how powerful you are, how well you’re doing and that shows them that this is also available to them. YOU inspire others through your own awakening.
But it does require you to go through some of the mud yourself first. There’s no healing when you keep running away from the things that scare you, whether it’s something related to trauma or perhaps just fear of rejection. It really doesn’t matter what the source of your fear is, but the only way past is through. And by going through it, you experience a sense of healing which will lead to YOU being an inspiration to others.
So yes, your own spiritual awakening can be a bit… Let’s say “rough”.
For me personally, it dug up all the trauma, hurt and pain that I have ever experienced. In the end, it left me feeling as if I was going insane. My mind appeared to be going separate ways from my body, leaving me with a body that was literally stuck in the trauma (I couldn’t move or even stand up straight). All the while my higher self or intuition started guiding me and telling me things, such as how I should choose between ending my life or finally making it worth living. It was loud. There was so much going on inside my head – my intuition saying one thing, ego saying other things – that I’ve banged my head against the wall in attempts to make it all stop. It was rough.
Should you happen to be going thorugh such a phase of awakening right now, just remember this:
1. No, you’re not going crazy. No need to go to a mental institution!
2. Yes, the world may seem completely upside down. You’ll question everything and it will all make perfect sense in the end.
3. This too shall pass. It really will! Just take it day by day.
4. You’ll learn so much that you’ll grow faster than you could’ve ever imagined.
5. It’s safe. You’re safe. And you’ll be just fine. Just go with the flow!
So let that wild fire inside of you burn it all down, so that you can start afresh. New. Strong. Inspirational. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes!
💢 What the hell is happening?! It’s so quiet now. So peaceful, easy going, relaxed. Hm. What do I do now?
Okay, this is too quiet. Too peaceful, too relaxed.
I’m getting bored now. I need excitement!
And you know what? This is all wrong. It can’t be good. Life can’t be this good. It’s like the calm before the storm. Something is about to go terribly wrong. I just know!
Something MUST go wrong. I KNOW something will go wrong. It’s always like that, like a rollercoaster. 💢
So I ask myself… ▶️ CAN YOU BE ADDICTED TO STRUGGLES?
It’s one of those questions I keep on asking myself while journaling, even though I already know the answer.
But it fascinates me. And it amazes me at the same time.
Funny thing is that I can’t seem to find anything about it on the internet. As if no one else feels the need to discuss this. Or perhaps because its too challenging to even think about.
Because… 👉 Why would anyone be ADDICTED to challenges?
👉 Can you even be addicted to STRUGGLES?
👉 And, why would anyone ever WANT or NEED difficulties?
👉 Let alone, go LOOKING for ’em? Creating it?
Right? I know that’s what you’re probably thinking while reading this. “Has she completely lost her mind? Why would anyone WANT struggles in their life? Doesn’t everybody just want a happy and easy life?!”.
But it’s true though. You can absolutely be addicted to difficulties, struggles, challenges.
I used to tell myself that I NEED challenges. Why? Because otherwise life gets boring. It gets dull, too relaxed, too easy going. And I just don’t know how to handle that.
Yes, of course this has to do with the fact that my brain is so used to the fight-or-flight mode that I have lived in for so long. It’s like my own “normal”. Anything other than SURVIVAL MODE, is scary as shit for my brain.
👀 You see….
For those of us who’ve had lots of struggles in life, the FEELING that difficulties give is a familiar feeling. You KNOW it well. It just feels so familiar, that it actually feels safe.
😵 Yes. Struggles feel safe! 😵
I know, it’s mind-boggling. But you understand this IF you’re one of us.
You just know how it works. You know the drill. You know how to survive. You know what you need to do. You know exactly what to do. Always.
I remember talking to someone with a similar past as mine. And how we just know EXACTLY what to do whenever life becomes challenging again. Since we’ve dealt with it so many times, it’s like going on automatic pilot.
➡️ Shut off all emotions. ➡️ Okay, autopilot on. ➡️ Do whatever needs to be done. ➡️ Back to survival mode.
But when life seems good? Easy? Everything going the way we actually WANT it to go?
That’s scary! Because HOW do you deal with that, when your mind just screams for the excitment and feeling of safety that comes with struggles???
✨ By relesasing the need for it. ✨ Over and over, and over again. ✨ And then some more.
And yes, tonight I’m releasing this crazy ass addiction too. Again. And again. And over and over again. Until it’s completely replaced with a deep belief that it’s safe for me to always enjoy an easy going life.
You can do this too, gorgeous. I know you can. You’ve got this!
