Before starting a treatment program, an intake always takes place. The intake is completely free of charge and intended to get a first impression of each other. At that time, we determine whether EMDR is suitable for you and what the follow-up can be.
To make it as efficient as possible, I will send you a couple of intake forms to fill out. This gives me the opportunity to assess all the information provided by you. After you have sent me the forms back, we will schedule a 30 minute intake call. During this call, we will further discuss the problem, complaint, or question that you have and clarify together in what way the individual treatment methods or a combination thereof can contribute to achieving a change. Subsequently, a treatment plan is drawn up during this call.

How long does 1 EMDR session take?
EMDR sessions typically last between 1 hour and 1.5 hours. Prior to the session, an intake is conducted to gather relevant information and save time so that the session can begin quickly. During the session, you will be guided by me through the process of EMDR. The length of the session may depend on your individual needs and the complexity of the issue being addressed. Remember, clients typically experience significant progress and improvement after just one EMDR session.
After the first session
Depending on the complexity of the issue being addressed, multiple sessions may be required. This will all be discussed in your own treatment plan, before we even get started with the first session.
One thing that all treatments have in common, is that a follow-up is always part of it. During these, we will get clear on what changes occured, where there may still be obstacles, and how your goal can be better achieved. These conversations form the basis for my choice of the most suitable treatment techniques.
It’s important to note that the number of EMDR sessions required can vary depending on nature of your distress. Some clients may see significant improvement after just one session, while others may require several sessions to fully process and resolve their trauma or negative beliefs. I will work with you to determine the appropriate number of sessions based on your individual needs and goals.
