The world feels intense right now. So much division. So much fear and unrest.
Everywhere you look, people are arguing, choosing sides, trying to hold on to something that feels safe.
And maybe you’ve felt it too… The tension in your body, the racing thoughts, the sense that something big is changing… and that nothing will ever quite be the same again.
What you’re feeling isn’t wrong. Your nervous system is responding to a world in chaos. Because what many people are experiencing right now – collectively – is an awakening. And let’s be honest: an awakening isn’t just love and light. In fact, it often starts with loss.

An awakening rarely feels like enlightenment!
When people talk about an “awakening”, it sounds peaceful. Expansive. Like this magical experience that you wish everyone would experience.
But in reality, it’s extremenly messy and disorienting. You lose old beliefs. Old certainties. Old versions of yourself. And with that, you may even lose people around you. Everything that once felt solid, now feels shaky.
It’s like the ground is crumbling beneath your feet; and in a way, it is. Because the old foundation you stood on, no longer matches who you’re becoming.
And that’s terrifying!
Your body doesn’t interpret that as “growth.” It interprets it as danger. That’s why your nervous system kicks in to protect you. Your body goes into a trauma response (fight, flight, or freeze). You might feel angry, sad, hopeless, or scared. Maybe even numb.
But here’s the thing: this isn’t proof that you’re broken. It’s proof that your system is trying to adapt. It’s showing you where old pain and unprocessed emotions are being brought to the surface, so they can finally be released.

Collective trauma: why this moment feels so intense
Trauma doesn’t stop with one person. It travels through families, generations, communities, even whole countries. It shows up in how we handle fear, conflict, authority, and love.
And right now, globally, we’re seeing all of it resurface. Old wounds – personal and collective – are being exposed. People are tired, fearful, reactive. Entire societies are living in survival mode.
And that’s what polarization really is: a trauma response at such a large scale. Nervous systems that never truly felt safe, are now clashing with one another.
But this is also the invitation of our time. Not just to wake up, but to heal. To stay grounded in truth instead of fear. To stay open-hearted in a world that keeps trying to divide.
How to stay grounded when everything feels chaotic
When the world feels unsafe, your first instinct might be to run (to distract, to argue, or try to control things) or to fight (speak up, join demonstrations, show the other side you’re not one to mess with). But true healing starts with coming back to your body, and with reminding yourself that – right now, in this moment – you are safe enough to feel.
Here are three ways to start:
1. Come back to your body
Place one hand on your heart, one on your belly. Inhale for 4 counts, exhale for 6.
Feel the movement under your hands. This breathing exercise tells your body: I’m here. I’m safe enough to slow down.
Or try this somatic reset: gently press the nail of your thumb for around 30 seconds, then the side of the nail. Now do the same with your other thumb. You’ll likely notice yawning, swallowing, or deep sighs, which are all signs that your vagus nerve is resetting and your body is relaxing.
2. Ground yourself in the now
Look around and name 5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear. Make sure to do this with both your feet on the ground. It’s simple, but it reminds your nervous system that you’re here, not in the past or the future.
3. Move the tension through your body
Trauma lives in the body, and so does release. Try shaking out your arms, stretch, take a walk, breathe. Movement completes the stress cycle and helps your system return to calm. Check the video below for more ways to help reset your nervous system.
Awakening and integration
An awakening isn’t about becoming perfect. It’s about becoming honest and figuring out who you truly are. Seeing where you’re still operating from fear, and choosing something new, again and again.
Remember that healing doesn’t mean you never going to get triggered again. It just means your triggers no longer control you, because you can stay present with these triggers, even when things feel uncertain and chaotic.
That’s the heart of my work: helping people regulate their nervous system, heal trauma, and come home to themselves. All so that they can live freely again, even when the world feels unpredictable.
