Kruiden voor de gezondheid

The use of herbs and spices has been something that humans have done since, well… pretty much forever. There’s even a growing amount of evidence that shows us that there was successful treatment of medical problems and for use of medicinal, poisonous, and psychoactive plant in the prehistoric past.

Some would say that a lot of the knowledge about medicinal plants and herbs has been lost, but I believe the opposite to be true. With the global awakening that’s happening at this time, more and more people delve into the art of herbalism, with a profound sense that nature (and humans) all have the ability to heal itself. That Mother Nature even helps us in this healing process, by bringing us these magnificent healing herbs.

As a child, I grew up learning about herbs pretty early on, thanks to my Indonesian roots. For us, using herbs and spices was normal. We ate spicy food, we ate garlic (which at that time was frowned upon very often, because of the smell) and we were taught some basics about medicinal herbs too, with ginger being the most prominent one.

To me, all of this is normal and there has been a long time in my life, during which I didn’t speak about this. It’s only in the recent years, that I realised that I wanted to learn more about herbs and spread my own knowledge about it too.
